Overheard At Virtual Sorority Recruitment

Rush looked a little different this year. From Zoom calls to online Bid Day, potential new members still got the chance to meet all the sororities through virtual festivities.

If you’ve ever met someone going through rush szn, you know the conversations can be painful and even weird. Whether girls are trying to meet their forever homes or drop after the first rounds, students simply say the darndest things.

Here are a few of the best quotes we overheard during Penn State’s virtual sorority recruitment.

Girl who’s definitely not wearing pants: “You guys can’t see my pants right?”

A sister trying her best to recruit: “I would eat a pinecone if it was dipped in buffalo sauce.”

PNM: “Oh my god all these girls are so pretty. I look awful.” Sorority President: “…and don’t forget to mute yourself.”

Someone who is tired of the dry period: “We’re not supposed to talk about frats, but…”

Girl who is bad at history: “The Kardashians are the royal family of America.”

Sorority girl who misses the good ole days: “I forgot how much fun Wiis are.”

PNM who definitely got dropped after this: *completely mispronounces the sorority name*

A girl who would rather be anywhere else: “Yeah, I have COVID right now.”

PNM that WANTS to be dropped: “Yeah, I really like your sorority. But I like Theta more.”

A very uncomfortable sister: “How do I tell this girl I can hear her peeing?”

The girl who is running out of things to talk about: “Do you have an innie or an outie?”

An athletic queen: “I gave up competitive Irish dancing for badminton.”

A PNM that doesn’t know what she’s doing: *complete silence*

A girl who has had enough: “If I cry in front of the PNM, will it scare them away?”
