Designing Penn State NCAA Football Video Game Covers

It looks like the NCAA Football video game franchise is back, folks.

EA Sports announced Tuesday it’s bringing back its beloved college football game, which was discontinued after the 2014 installment. Needless to say, video game and college football fans alike were ecstatic the franchise’s drought is finally over.

Although we’re not sure when exactly the game will return, the announcement got our minds spinning about what Penn State football players could appear on the cover. A Nittany Lion has never appeared been the game’s featured athlete, so we decided to create our own covers.

All designs were created by Onward State’s Sam Brungo, Michael Tauriello, and Ryan Parsons.

The quarterback is an easy choice. Sean Clifford in all white on a White Out background just looks too clean. Although it’s likely EA Sports will update the cover to a more modern design, we threw together a few more of the classic looks for nostalgic purposes.

Since star running back Journey Brown needed to medically retire from football due to a heart condition, we thought it would be nice to tribute him on the cover. He certainly could have worked his way up to cover stardom had he not retired.

Although the classic designs are a great look, we also took some creative liberty to update the cover to more recent graphics. We based these off of the cover arts for some more recent Madden games.

No announcements have been made about the NCAA Basketball video game series returning, but why not get some Penn State representation on there as well?
