Penn State Softball Releases 2021 Schedule

Penn State softball is back in business, folks.

Following a long offseason, the team announced the schedule for its 2021 season Tuesday morning.

The Nittany Lions will play only Big Ten opponents due to the coronavirus pandemic. Each team in the conference will play 44 total games over the course of the season.

Penn State begin its season in Florida on Friday, February 26 by taking on Wisconsin, Purdue, and Northwestern over the weekend. Each day will be a doubleheader, so the team will play Wisconsin twice on the 26, Purdue twice on the 27, and Northwestern twice on the 28.

Following a weekend break, the Nittany Lions will return to Florida to play in three-game series with both Iowa and Illinois. Then, Penn State will play in Big Ten stadiums for the rest of the season. It will have four home and four road series, each consisting of four games to be played Friday through Sunday.

The first home series for the Nittany Lions will be played on April 2, and it will be the first time they have played a game at home since the 2019 season. There won’t be a Big Ten Tournament this year.

The Nittany Lions finished the shortened season 11-15 last year. New coach Clarisa Crowell will attempt to get the program on a winning path as the new season gets underway.
