Penn State Adds 177 Cases To COVID-19 Dashboard

Penn State reported 177 more coronavirus cases among University Park students and employees this week, according to the university’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Since Friday, February 5, the university has administered 2,554 total tests to students and employees, according to the dashboard. One hundred and sixty-seven students and 10 employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Over the past week, Penn State’s total positivity rate for the semester rose from 6.4% to 6.5%. About 5.8% of tests administered in the last seven days returned positive results.

Twenty-three students are isolating at Penn State’s Eastview Terrace complex, while five are quarantined there. The university is using up 7% of its 400-room capacity.

So far, Penn State has reported 398 positives out of 18,627 COVID-19 tests through its mandated pre-arrival testing for the spring semester. These numbers are already reflected in Penn State’s reported totals.

Students are required to complete pre-arrival testing before moving into the dorms next week. Additionally, all students on campus or in Centre County must complete “universal” COVID-19 testing between February 15 and 26.

Penn State’s COVID-19 Dashboard also incorporates figures from student-athlete testing and any tests taken by those who remained on campus over winter break.

Penn State plans on updating the newly unveiled dashboard three times a week throughout the semester on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The university said testing data is added to the dashboard once results are received.

New features on the dashboard include an “All Campuses” button that shows testing statistics for Penn State’s entire network, calculations for positivity rates, and “enhanced” quarantine and isolation data.
