THON Effectively Declares Virtual White Out For Pep Rally

Once again, the world’s largest student-run philanthropic event is calling for White Out conditions next Saturday.

For the third year in a row, Penn State’s Alumni Association will help turn THON’s annual pep rally into a White Out. This time, though, it’s going virtual.

While it can’t pass out thousands of white t-shirts to a packed Bryce Jordan Center, the Alumni Association and THON will provide 592 dancers with a special White Out shirt for the pep rally.

“No one rallies the pep better than when THON and the Penn State Alumni Association partner for the THON Weekend Pep Rally,” Alumni Association CEO Paul Clifford said. “We are excited and proud to sponsor Pep Rally 2021 as a virtual reminder that THON doesn’t end with graduation; we need to persist in the fight to end childhood cancer.”

For the youngins out there, THON’s pep rally traditionally brings Nittany Lions teams on stage to perform festive dance routines and be judged by a host of big-name Penn Staters. Men’s gymnastics, a well-known THON dynasty, has won four straight pep rally titles.

THON’s pep rally traditionally takes place during each marathon’s Saturday night. According to this year’s virtual spectator guide, THON 2021’s pep rally will get started at 7 p.m. on February 20.
