Penn State Homecoming 2021 Scheduled For Illinois Weekend
Mark your calendars, folks! Penn State Homecoming 2021 finally has a date.
Early Wednesday morning, Homecoming announced its yearly festivities will begin on Sunday, October 17, and culminate with the Nittany Lions’ clash against Illinois at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, October 23.
Currently, no kickoff time is set for the matchup. It’s also unclear if fans could attend in person by the time October roll around.
Additionally, the annual Homecoming Parade is set for Friday, October 22. Homecoming’s executive committee said it’ll provide more information on more upcoming events as the season gets closer.
“We are excited to announce the dates for Homecoming 2021,” Executive Director Dom Rullo said. “We are looking forward to hopefully returning to our normal celebrations, but plan to follow all regulations regarding the pandemic. We cannot wait to celebrate Penn State’s Pride and traditions with everyone in our community.”
In its press release, Homecoming said it’s considering both online and in-person festivities for its upcoming celebration. Logistics will ultimately hinge upon university and state guidelines and the COVID-19 pandemic’s trajectory.
Last fall, Homecoming’s celebration took place virtually. Most notably, it moved its annual parade online and broadcasted it through a livestream.
The next step toward next year’s festivities should come during THON, where Homecoming will share its 2021 theme. The organization’s logo is typically revealed at April’s annual Blue-White game (if it happens, of course).
