An Officially Official Power Ranking Of The THON 2021 Line Dance Lyrics

Now that we’ve settled into the livestream of our first-ever completely virtual THON Weekend, it’s time to commit those 2021 line dance lyrics to heart and work on our moves.

If you’re still working on memorizing the lyrics, you can find them here. In the meantime, there were definitely some lyrics that stood out from the rest, so we took the liberty of coming up with an extremely official power ranking of the best 2021 line dance lyrics.

10. Clare ditches two weeks in // Tayshia for the win

For those who aren’t dialed into Bachelor Nation, the drama was at an all-time high on this season of “The Bachelorette” as Clare bowed out from her role as the Bachelorette two weeks into filming following a quick engagement to Dale (with whom she’s since broken up).

Tayshia Adams filled in the role for the remainder of the season, but we were definitely left scratching our heads as to what the hell we just watched.

9. MJ GOAT “The Last Dance” // PS5 you have no chance

It feels like a million years ago that we were all tuning in to this banger of a documentary, but it was actually less than a year ago. It definitely helped to pass the time at the beginning of the pandemic as well as birthed a truly stellar meme, which is why Michael Jordan and the Bulls have secured the No. 9 spot in our rankings.

8. “Keeping Up” leaving E! // Outer Banks, relax John B

This lyric is especially poignant as Kimye officially filed for divorce today (RIP).

Beyond the loss of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” from our TVs, John B and the rest of the Outer Banks crew took the world by storm last spring, which earns them a spot at No. 8.

7. T-Swift album, how ’bout two? // Harry Styles Vogue debut

Taylor Swift is the music industry, and she proved that when she dropped not one, but two albums with no warning or promo in less than six months. Not to be outdone, Harry Styles also became the first male to grace the cover of Vogue magazine — and caused a whole lot of controversy in the process. This dynamic duo earned our No. 7 spot as a thank you for putting all of entertainment on their backs this past year.

6. UPS man can’t compare // Woah, hold up! Was that a bear?

Penn Staters were a bit more excited to receive their packages last semester, and that all has to do with UPS king Conor McCann. Also, as if 2020 couldn’t get any weirder, University Park was briefly the stomping ground of a…bear?

5. Lakers balling in the bubble // No TP, you’re in trouble!

Not only did LeBron James dial it up to eleven to secure a Lakers natty, but the team also did it in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s unfortunate passing. Whether you’re a Lakers fan or not, this was a pretty incredible moment in sports.

The reminder of the toilet paper craze last spring only helped to secure this lyric in its No. 5 ranking.

4. Harris a historic pick // Biden’s voted 46

No matter what side of the aisle you fall on, this past presidential election was absolutely historic, especially with Kamala Harris becoming the first woman of color — as well as the first woman in general — to be elected vice president of the United States. We also got this meme out of it, which is why this lyric came in at No. 4.

3. COVID makes our lives transform // worldwide strength reborn

Talk about an understatement.

2. Black Lives Matter stories shared // marching forward everywhere

It felt a bit weird to use a massive racial equality movement as a lyric in a line dance, and to go even further and rank it second. However, the progress being made is pretty exciting and hopeful, which is why this particular lyric comes in at No. 2.

1. Those lost we remember // legacies live on forever

Finally, coming in at No. 1 is this particularly emotional lyric remembering all of those who have lost their lives to the current pandemic. It’s a nice reminder that even though many of us have lost people we cared about to the coronavirus pandemic, their impact will stay with us forever. Mask up, folks!
