THON 2021 Prop Bets

THON 2021 is going to look a lot different this year, and the virtual format will surely bring quite a few changes. However, there should still be no shortage of electric performances and fun events, which means we needed to make our official prop bets for THON 2021.

For those not familiar with prop bets, Onward State co-founder Evan Kalikow put it best: “A prop bet is short for proposition bet. Basically, it’s a bet on something not commonly betted upon. For example, lots of people bet on the score of the Super Bowl, but how many people bet on how many times the winning coach will say ‘humbled’ in the postgame press conference? That’s a prop bet.”

All betting odds listed below are completely made up and are just for fun. Onward State is NOT a gambling site, so don’t take this seriously and start betting on THON. Putting money on THON is a bad idea and not very FTK.

Prop Bets

James Franklin Speaks At THON: 1-3

This is as close to a lock as you can get.

The Livestream Crashes At Least Once: 1-1

No matter how positive you want to be, you need to admit there is a very good chance of the livestream crashing at least once throughout THON Weekend.

The Jonas Brothers Perform: 10-1

This may be a little too optimistic, but it really makes all the sense in the world. First off, the Jonas Brothers wouldn’t even have to come all the way to State College due to the virtual format. Second, what better way to hype up the first-ever virtual THON than to have Penn State’s favorite band rock the THON livestream?

Saquon Barkley, Trace McSorley, & Mike Gesicki All Make An Appearance: 12-1

Again, given the virtual format of THON, this shouldn’t be too hard to pull off. Don’t be surprised if many Penn State football legends show up at some point during the weekend.

The Phrase “B-Ball School” Is In The Line Dance: 500-1

No.

Pep Rally Winner

  • Men’s Gymnastics: 1-2
  • Women’s Volleyball: 3-1
  • Football: 4-1
  • Men’s Soccer: 6-1
  • Women’s Soccer: 6-1
  • Field Hockey: 10-1
  • Men’s Swimming and Diving: 10-1
  • Women’s Golf: 12-1
  • Women’s Basketball: 12-1
  • Men’s Basketball: 12-1

Men’s gymnastics has dominated the pep rally in the past, winning it four years in a row. That makes it the obvious favorite going into this year’s event. Considering the dominance we’ve seen, it would be an absolute shock to see another team come out on top.

Most Played Song

  • Mr. Brightside: 2-1
  • Zombie Nation: 3-1
  • Year 3000: 4-1
  • All Star: 5-1
  • Sweet Caroline: 10-1

What Will Happen When The Livestream Is Off From Midnight To 6 A.M.?

  • Literally nothing: 2-1
  • Highlights from THON: 2-1
  • Running music playlist: 2-1

Who the hell knows what’s going to happen when the livestream is off?
