Power Ranking Saturday’s Virtual OPP Mopping Videos

Even though THON 2021 went virtual and the BJC floor doesn’t need much cleaning, the OPP Committees are still working hard to bring us some virtual floor mopping.

We compiled Saturday’s floor mopping segment and decided to power rank them to start some healthy discourse. Mop on!

No. 7 The Peanut Butter Makes it to the BJC

The main reason this OPP segment is landing in last place is that it leaves so many questions unanswered. Why did the peanut butter need to go all the way to the BJC? Hopefully we get a follow-up in Sunday’s mop video.

No. 6 OPPrisioner of Azkaban

This mop video showed people learning how to pick up their quidditch mops with some pretty nifty editing. Seeing all the quidditch players learn how to pick up their mop using some wizarding skills was quite entertaining.

No. 5 High School Musical

Probably as an ode to the High School Musical stairs in the HUB, this video reimagined all the lyrics to the bops of “High School Musical.” We heard classics like “We’re All in This Together” and “Breaking Free” with lyrics about mopping keeping the BJC clean.

No. 4 The Incomparable Squidward

Everyone, put your hands together for the incomparable Squidward! This mop video took us all back to an iconic scene from “Spongebob.” It was action-packed with Squidward getting pelted with snowballs, awkward dancing, and sweeping up the snow. Just what we need from a mopping video.

No. 3 Mop Curling

OPP goes olympic as Penn State’s best mop curling team showed off their skills. Each team member took a turn with the bucket, and they sure did keep us on our toes.

No. 2 The Bachelor

Is it Monday night? Feels like it. The line dance mentioned “The Bachelor,” so it’s only fair that the romance made it into the OPP mop videos, too. We watched in anticipation as mops were given out to the prospective matches. Prime virtual mop content.

No. 1 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Mop

Annakin, my allegiance is to THON, for the kids! This “Star Wars” themed mop video was the best of Saturday. Dare we say better than the Pep Rally? We were graced with Golden-Globe-worthy acting, incredible narration, a dramatic finish, and riveting dialogue. It was the perfect addition to the “Star Wars” collection.

We’ll see how Sunday’s mop videos will compare to this line-up of mopping.
