Penn State Men’s Soccer’s Wednesday Clash With Michigan Postponed Due To COVID-19 Concerns
Penn State men’s soccer will have to wait to play one of its major conference rivals.
The program announced Tuesday that the Wednesday fixture against Michigan will be postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests among Penn State’s Tier 1 personnel. The team was supposed to travel to Ann Arbor on Tuesday.
Penn State Athletics stated that the two sides will work with the Big Ten to identify rescheduling options.
It’s unclear as of now whether Penn State will have to take an extended period off, which the men’s basketball team did back in January. Should the team be forced to quarantine, the only other game in the upcoming 10-day period is a trip to Indiana.
The threat of a pause in Penn State’s season couldn’t come at a worse time for the Nittany Lions. This week’s matches at Michigan and Indiana, the two other major favorites in the Big Ten, were going to be an important litmus test for the program.
As of now, the Indiana game remains scheduled for Sunday in Bloomington. Penn State also doesn’t have any fixtures slated for the following week.
