Penn State Hockey’s Alex Limoges Voted Big Ten’s Most Underrated Player

Big Ten hockey student-athletes voted Penn State captain Alex Limoges the most “underrated” player in the conference, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

Limoges was voted first as the league’s most underrated player in front of Minnesota’s Ben Meyers and Notre Dame’s Graham Slaggert, respectively. With 36 players receiving at least one vote, Big Ten players had differing opinions on underrated players.

Penn State’s captain is no stranger to success. The senior forward is already nominated for this year’s Hobey Baker Award, which is annually presented to the top collegiate hockey player each season. Limoges was also named to the preseason All-Big Ten’s first team before the season began.

Limoges currently leads the Nittany Lions with nine goals and is tied with sophomore forward Kevin Wall for the lead in points. He has 50 career goals under his belt, five behind the program’s leading goal-scorer, Nate Sucese.

Limoges was critical in the team’s resurgence from an 0-5-0 start to the season. He hasn’t had a typical year as captain, like the rest of his predecessors.

“This is the hardest year to come in and be captain of a team,” head coach Guy Gadowsky said. “What he’s done off the ice has been far greater than what he’s done on the ice.”

Limoges and the Nittany Lions face off against Notre Dame in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Sunday, March 14. Puck drop is set for noon on the Big Ten Network.
