‘Great Hire’: Fans Pleased With Penn State Hoops’ Reported Hiring Of Micah Shrewsberry

Following an 11-14 season and failure to qualify for the NCAA Tournament or the NIT, Jim Ferry’s time as Penn State men’s basketball’s interim head coach is reportedly over.

According to a report by Stadium’s Jeff Goodman Monday morning, Penn State is expected to hire Purdue assistant Micah Shrewsberry as its next head coach.

While some fans were sad to see Ferry go after just a one-year trial run, many are expected for the future ahead under the experienced Shrewsberry. The assistant boasts plenty of experience, as he’s spent time with the Boston Celtics and Butler.

The Athletic’s college basketball reporter Dana O’Neill even called Shrewsberry a “terrific hire.”

While taking over the Nittany Lions’ program will certainly be a tall task, Goodman added that Shrewsberry’s experience in the NBA could be key in recruiting.

Some folks were even calling for some Coach of the Year buzz. Sounds good to us!

Coach of the Year and a Final Four appearance? Sounds like a big jump for the Nittany Lions.

As excited as people are for the reported hiring, it’ll be no easy task to lead the Nittany Lions back to where they were in 2019-20.
