Penn State Football Adds Three Matchups To 2024, 2026 Schedules

Penn State football announced three non-conference additions to its 2024 and 2026 schedules Thursday.

The Nittany Lions have rounded out their 2024 slate with a visit from Kent State on September 21, 2024. That will be Penn State’s sixth all-time matchup with the Golden Flashes, as it leads the series 6-0. The two sides last faced off in week three of the 2018 season, and James Franklin’s squad took care of business 63-10.

Penn State’s other non-conference opponents in 2024 are West Virginia and Bowling Green.

As for the 2026 campaign, Penn State added games against Marshall and San Jose State. The Nittany Lions will welcome the Thundering Herd to Beaver Stadium on September 5, 2026, while San Jose State is slated to visit two weeks later on September 19.

Franklin’s team was scheduled to take on the Spartans early in the 2020 season, but those plans were obviously changed when the Big Ten held a conference-only schedule last fall. As for Marshall, Penn State has played against it twice, but not since 1930. The last meeting resulted in a 65-0 win for the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions’ only other contest scheduled for 2026 as of now is a battle with Temple at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, September 12.

As for this upcoming season, Penn State will start 2021 with a road contest against Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, September 4.
