Spring has arrived, folks.

The weather is getting nicer, the flowers are blooming, and The Masters Tournament kicks off today in Augusta, Georgia.

As the competition kicks off, many are going to get into the golfing spirit and hit the links this weekend. With equipment and golf balls flying off the shelves, we began to wonder how famous Penn Staters would customize their golf balls.

Naturally, we brainstormed some ideas.

President Barron

President Barron would probably keep his golf ball very simplistic. The seven on his ball symbolizes the number of years he has been Penn State’s president and serves as a reminder that he’s inching closer to retirement.

James Franklin

Even though some people like to forget their failures, James Franklin might want to use it as motivation on the golf course with the number 45, symbolizing his interesting play call on 4th & 5 against Ohio State in 2018.

It’s hard to imagine Franklin putting anything on the side of the ball except a piece of motivation from his infamous “great but not elite” postgame speech from the same night. After all, everybody can use a little extra bit of motivation on the tee!

Micah Shrewsberry

The double zeros on newly hired men’s basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry’s ball symbolize the number of wins (and losses) he has with Penn State so far. The side of his ball can speak for itself. Who wouldn’t want their own Rothsteinism on their golf ball?

Saquon Barkley

The great Chubbs Peterson once said, “It’s all in the hips.”

Former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley would obviously take No. 26 wherever he goes, but the magic number itself may not be enough to get him to a low score on the course. A small swing tip on the side of the golf ball can easily elevate his game and even be the key to victory on the course.

The Willard Preacher

It’s recommended that you should never be tense during your golf swing. But sometimes, a little bit of aggression can add more power. It’s reasonable to assume that the Willard Preacher could glance down at his trigger number and blast a 400-yard drive out of rage. He might as well also put one of his famous quotes on the side of the ball to be able to “preach” to people who come across it.

Joe Paterno

This one may seem obvious, but it’s hard to believe that JoePa wouldn’t play with the famous number that you can find all around State College. With his two national championship seasons listed on the side, the ball suggests one thing: legendary.

Bill O’Brien

Bill O’Brien was the 15th head coach in Penn State football’s history, and that is something he might want to pay homage to. As for the side of the ball, need I say more?
