Danny Bloyou Named To TopDrawerSoccer Team Of The Week

Penn State men’s soccer striker Danny Bloyou received yet another accolade to bolster his illustrious 2021 campaign.

Following his brace in the 3-1 win over Ohio State last week, Bloyou was included in TopDrawerSoccer’s men’s national Team of the Week.

The junior opened up scoring for the Nittany Lions Saturday afternoon off of a rebound. Bloyou was in the right place at the right time and cleaned up Peter Mangione’s saved attempt.

In the second half, Bloyou got his second. He once again found success by being in a forward position and found the back of the net from within six yards. Although only standing 5’8″, Bloyou has been a physical presence in and around the box all year.

Bloyou has been instrumental all year for the Nittany Lions. His two goals against the Buckeyes propel him to second in the Big Ten conference with six goals despite playing only nine matches. The Ghanaian-born attacker is behind only top national prospect Victor Bezerra of Indiana.

Bloyou earned Team of the Week honors just days after being recognized on the All-Big Ten First Team with teammates Brandon Hackenberg and Pierre Reedy.

The Nittany Lions will be in action next on Wednesday, March 14 when they host Michigan in the Big Ten semifinals. Kickoff will be at 5 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network, although a select amount of students will now be allowed to attend in-person.
