Schreyer To Host Virtual Town Halls To Introduce Candidates For Next Dean

Penn State’s Schreyer Honors College will introduce its candidates to replace Dean Peggy Johnson through a series of town hall events via Zoom beginning Wednesday, April 21, according to an email sent to scholars.

Schreyer faculty, staff, and students can participate in separate sessions on Wednesday, April 21, Monday, April 26, and Wednesday, April 28 from 9 to 10 a.m. The session originally scheduled for Monday, April 19 was postponed until a later date that has yet to be announced.

Each candidate will have their own separate session to give brief remarks followed by an open Q&A period. The candidates’ names will be announced about 48 hours before the start of their respective sessions.

Students who attend the session are asked to turn their cameras on, ensure that first and last names are visible, and use the “raise hand” feature to ask a question. Schreyer will send a survey following each event for attendees to provide feedback.

Schreyer is well into the search of a new dean after Johnson announced her plans to retire back in October. Her retirement will begin effective August 15, 2021.

“This position has been a highlight of my 30-year career as a professor,” Johnson wrote in October. “I am fortunate to have worked with so many dedicated faculty and staff that have helped continue to grow and develop what is one of the nation’s top honors programs, and I am confident that the University will find a worthy successor to help lead the faculty, staff, students, and the College into the future.”
