Ten Penn State Football Stars Earn Preseason All-Big Ten Honors

We’re only a few months away from the college football season, and that means it’s time for preseason all-conference squads.

As for Penn State football, several players earned spots on Phil Steele’s preseason All-Big Ten teams this week. In fact, ten stars managed to earn some recognition from the long-time college football analyst.

Offensive lineman Rasheed Walker and safety Jaquan Brisker were Penn State’s pair of representatives on the first-team. Walker was also named a preseason All-American by Steele, as he’s already made 22 starts at left tackle through his first three seasons in Happy Valley. Walker is also gaining NFL hype entering a highly anticipated redshirt junior year.

As for Brisker, he’s considered to be one of the top safeties in the conference, if not the country, entering 2021. Through just two seasons in Happy Valley following his stint at Lackawanna College, he’s collected 89 total tackles and three picks.

Jahan Dotson and Mike Miranda made up the second-team for the Nittany Lions. Dotson burst onto the scene this past season as one of the lone bright spots for James Franklin’s squad. He was the engine that made the offense go throughout the 2020 campaign by hauling in 52 catches and reaching the end zone eight times in just nine games.

Miranda may not get the same attention, but has been a stalwart on the offensive line for several seasons. He’s already played in 35 games for the Nittany Lions, the majority of them inside at guard.

The third-team featured young offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, Temple transfer Arnold Ebiketie, and linebacker Ellis Brooks.

Young stars Brenton Strange and Brandon Smith rounded out the group alongside long snapper Chris Stoll. The special teamer made headlines ahead of the 2020 season by earning a full scholarship after three seasons as a walk-on run-on. Stoll has served as Penn State’s primary long snapper for 22 career games, and now enters his redshirt senior season with plenty of experience under his belt.
