Campus Rec Facilities To Reopen For Members July 12

Penn State’s Campus Recreation facilities will reopen for faculty, staff, affiliate, associate, and retiree members on July 12.

The Intramural (IM) Building, McCoy Natatorium, its outdoor pool, and Hepper Fitness Center will reopen at that time. The Tennis Center opened its facility to faculty, staff, and other members in early June. The White Building will stay closed for the rest of the summer.

Individuals interested in purchasing a membership in person can do so starting July 6 in the IM Building sales office or register online beginning July 12. Reservations for lockers can be purchased at the sales office, too. Membership prices can be found here.

“We are excited to welcome our faculty and staff colleagues back into Campus Recreation facilities,” Laura Hall, senior director of Campus Recreation, said. “Now, perhaps more so than ever, supporting the wellbeing of our campus community is a critical focus for Campus Recreation.”

Equipment and capacity restrictions were lifted on June 29 for vaccinated individuals following the lesser state and campus restrictions. A complete list of activities can be found here.

Members who are vaccinated won’t be required to wear a mask or practice social distancing. Campus Rec will host its second session of Intramural programs for the summer. Registration opens on July 6.

Former Campus Rec members should receive an email asking them to fill out a form to acknowledge the July 12 membership restarts on June 30. They can also indicate an alternate start date or cancel their membership.

Members who do not complete the form by June 30 will have their membership canceled prior to July 12. New members can join at any time throughout the summer.

Campus Rec will update information on its website as more programming and services become available.
