Report: Penn State Hoops Star Guard Kayden Mingo Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State men’s basketball star point guard Kayden Mingo has entered the transfer portal, per Jonathan Givony.

In his one year with the Nittany Lions, Mingo was the team’s second leading scorer with 13.7 points per game while leading the team in assists and steals.

The 6’3″ New York native scored in double figures 21 times this past season, including three 20-point games, and his 4.3 assists per game were the most of any freshman in the Big Ten.

A member of Penn State’s 2025 recruiting class, Mingo was the program’s highest-rated recruit ever.

He joins Eli Rice, Mason Blackwood, and Melih Tunca as players to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Mingo has three years of eligibility remaining.

Mingo’s younger brother Dylan, a high school senior and five-star recruit, is currently committed to North Carolina and its new head coach Michael Malone.
