Three-Star Linebacker Keon Wylie Commits To Penn State Football

James Franklin is officially hot on the recruiting trail, folks.

After Lackawanna College offensive tackle JB Nelson committed to the Nittany Lions Friday, three-star linebacker Keon Wylie announced Saturday afternoon on CBS Sports that he’s joining Penn State’s class of 2022.

Wylie chose Penn State over Kentucky and Pitt, among others. The Philadelphia native currently attends Imhotep Institute Charter High School where he plays both defensive end and outside linebacker, according to his MaxPreps profile. As a sophomore during the 2019-20 season, the 6’2″, 210-pound linebacker totaled 52 tackles and 10 sacks in 13 games played.

According to 247Sports, he’s the 13th-best player in the 2022 class from Pennsylvania. Additionally, he’s ranked as the No. 58 linebacker in the nation.

Wylie is the first linebacker to join Franklin’s class of 2022 that now features 14 players. He’s also the third defensive player, joining Philadelphia defensive end Ken Talley and Lackawanna College safety Tyrece Mills.

Prior to Wylie’s commitment, Penn State boasted the No. 2-ranked recruiting class in the Big Ten, as well as the eighth-best class in the nation, according to 247Sports.

Despite already picking up Wylie and Nelson over the past two days, this could just be the start of big stretch of commitments for Franklin and his coaching staff. Several prospects are scheduled to announce their decisions over the next few days.
