[Photo Story] Penn State Football Welcomes Media Back To Fall Camp
We’re baaaaaack!
And by “we,” we mean the media. Back at Penn State football practice, that is. For the first time since winter workouts in March 2020!
A lot has changed for the Nittany Lions since then, including two different offensive coordinators, a flurry of new assistant coaches, and a strange, pandemic-influenced 2020 football season.
Saturday’s practice, which was the second of fall camp, was the first time we saw coaches like Mike Yurcich, John Scott Jr., Ty Howle, and more run a practice. Of course, familiar faces like James Franklin and Ju’Juan Seider were there, too.
When the media was let into the Lasch Building’s outdoor practice fields, Penn State was running 1-on-1 route-running drills. The Nittany Lions’ impressive secondary flexed its muscles through much of this portion of practice.
Next up, many of the positions groups broke up to do individual drills. Quarterbacks and offensive linemen worked on snap counts, while the defense plowed its way through some very large blocking bags. The Nittany Lions’ skill groups ran through some run-off-the-mill reps as well.
Penn State’s special teams units got some work in next. Guys like Jordan Stout and Jake Pinegar cleared the field goal net with most of their kicks while Keyvone Lee, Caziah Holmes, and even Jaquan Brisker worked in the return game.
The last part of Penn State’s open practice had the quarterbacks working their arms. Sean Clifford, Ta’Quan Roberson, Mason Stahl, and Christian Veilleux let the ball fly.
The Nittany Lions kick their season off against Wisconsin on September 4!
