Penn State Football Jumps To No. 10 In AP Top 25 Poll

Penn State football has officially joined the top 10 of this week’s AP Top 25 Poll.

After improving to 2-0 with a convincing 44-13 win over Ball State Saturday, the Nittany Lions have climbed to No. 10 in this week’s poll.

Saturday’s victory was a welcomed sight for Penn State fans, especially after the nail-biting season opener against Wisconsin. Sean Clifford paced the Nittany Lions with 230 yards through the air and two total touchdowns, while Jesse Luketa and the rest of Brent Pry’s defense had a consistent performance throughout.

Penn State remains to be the third-highest ranked Big Ten team in the poll. Ohio State fell to No. 9 after Saturday’s 35-28 loss to then-No. 12 Oregon in Columbus, while Iowa jumped to No. 5 thanks to the impressive road win over then-No. 9 Iowa State. Wisconsin stayed put at No 18, and Michigan entered this week’s poll at No. 25.

The Nittany Lions also managed to jump Notre Dame in the rankings. The Fighting Irish struggled on Saturday as they just barely took down Toledo 32-29, and now sit at No. 12.

As for the USA Today Coaches Poll, Penn State came in at No. 12. Ohio State fell all the way to No. 11, while Iowa slid up to No. 7. Wisconsin follows at No. 17, while Michigan entered at No. 25 after starting the season 2-0.

Penn State’s week three opponent, Auburn, came in at No. 22 in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll. The Tigers opened the season with a 60-10 win over Akron, and dominated Alabama State 62-0 this past Saturday. Bryan Harsin’s squad will play in front of a White Out at Beaver Stadium this Saturday, while ESPN’s College GameDay will also be in attendance.

Saturday’s highly anticipated matchup will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be broadcast on ABC.
