Brainstorming More Burgers & Sandwiches Named After Penn Staters

Last week, Penn State men’s basketball head coach Micah Shrewsberry debuted a new burger to The Field called the “Shrewsburger.” It was basically a regular hamburger with peanut butter added to the mix.

However, that got us thinking. James Franklin already has his own signature sandwich, but who are some other Penn Staters who need a burger or sandwich named after them? Here are a few of our favorites.

BBQ Beef Brisker Sandwich — Jaquan Brisker

Jaquan Brisker has been a force to be reckoned with on defense this season. So, it’s only fair that he gets some sort of recognition in the way of food. Luckily for him, his name is so close to “brisket” that this one’s a no-brainer.

Brisket is tough meat, and Brisker is a tough player. His performance against Wisconsin proved that. He also seems like a nice guy, so having a sweet BBQ sauce could be a perfect complement to his toughness as a football player.

Brenton, Lettuce, And Tomato — Brenton Strange

Who doesn’t love a good BLT? Well, in this iteration, instead of bacon, the “B” can stand for whatever Brenton Strange wants. It could be anything, from a hamburger, to sausage, to even bacon if that’s what he really wants. Essentially, the tight end has a full choice of what goes into his sandwich, allowing for a mystery to occur for all that dare to order it.

Cael & Co. — Cael Sanderson

Wrestling coach Cael Sanderson’s name is very similar to everyone’s favorite vegetable — kale. So, why not make his signature sandwich a vegetarian one? Sanderson can put all of his favorite veggies in one delicious concoction, and people would really enjoy it. Let the people taste what built the wrestling dynasty, Cael!

CamDenny’s — Anna Camden

Denny’s should take this time to look at its NIL strategy because this is a grand slam. Women’s basketball star Anna Camden has the opportunity to create a beautiful breakfast sandwich that could revolutionize the breakfast world. Plus, with the support of a global brand like Denny’s, she would have a lot more ingredients to play with. This breakfast option could come become the next big thing.

The Linnehan-Held Wrap –Payton Linnehan

Women’s soccer star Payton Linnehan’s season this year has gone really well. So naturally, her recognition should be in the form of a sandwich. Or, in this case, a wrap, because these hand-held food items need to be diversified. Besides that, she wraps the ball around the goalie every time she scores, so it’s the obvious sandwich choice for her.
