OS Cribs: The Standard

The Standard is one of the many new luxury apartments to pop up in downtown State College recently. Sitting on the borough’s west side, The Standard overlooks College Ave. right between Atherton and Burrowes Street and is a quick walk to campus.

Construction for The Standard began in 2018 following the demolition of Zola Kitchen and Wine Bar, West College Realty, California Tortilla, Golden Wok, and two houses. The 12-story building has 243 units and 1007 beds with unoccupied realty space below.

Now that the space is up and running, we ventured over to check out its luxury amenities so you don’t need to sneak in.

After entering the front door, you’re greeted by the front desk and the fancy mailroom.

If you go to the second floor, you’ll find study rooms, a game room, gym, yoga studio, tanning stations, and a pool, available to all residents.

Itching to practice your golf swing? This simulator also has baseball and zombie dodgeball.

The courtyard is located on the third floor and overlooks the pool. Complete with hammocks, this quaint space is wedged between the two walls of the building.

The rooms themselves aren’t too fancy. However, they certainly feel modern.

Residents can choose from 17 different floor plans, ranging from studio apartments to five-bedroom layouts.

The Standard is complete with a beautiful view of Old Main and downtown State College. That’s one benefit of a high rise, right?
