Odafe Oweh Named AFC Defensive Player Of The Week

Odafe Oweh, the former Penn State defensive lineman and current Baltimore Ravens rookie, earned the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week award Monday thanks to an impressive performance against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Oweh recorded three solo tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. That forced fumble and subsequent recovery, in the final two minutes, secured the Ravens’ upset victory over the reigning AFC Champions.

This is Oweh’s first NFL honor since being drafted in the first round in the 2021 NFL draft earlier this April. He is also the first Penn Stater to earn a weekly award this season.

His performance in week two is another entry in what has already been a successful rookie campaign for the Ravens’ defensive lineman. This season, Oweh has recorded five solo tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and has the second-most quarterback pressures among rookies (only behind fellow Nittany Lion Micah Parsons).

Oweh will have another opportunity to continue making his mark in the NFL against the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
