Penn State-Iowa To Kick Off At 4 P.M.

No. 6 Penn State football will be part of FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” once again this season.

The show will be in attendance for the Nittany Lions’ clash with No. 5 Iowa in Iowa City, but the contest won’t actually kick off until 4 p.m. EST at Kinnick Stadium, FOX announced Saturday afternoon.

The trip to Kinnick will be Penn State’s first road game since its season-opening battle with Wisconsin in Madison, which was also featured on FOX. Once they finish up Saturday’s battle with Villanova, the Nittany Lions will turn their focus to the final of a four-game home stand. Penn State will take on Indiana in a prime-time battle at Beaver Stadium next weekend.

James Franklin and his squad last traveled to Kinnick Stadium in 2019. The Nittany Lions took down the Hawkeyes 17-12 thanks to a timely score and 102 yards on the ground from Noah Cain. Before that, Penn State’s 2017 trip to one of the toughest environments in the Big Ten resulted in a legendary 21-19 victory for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State leads the all-time series against the Hawkeyes 17-13, however Kirk Ferentz’ squad got the better of the Nittany Lions in 2020 with a 41-21 win at Beaver Stadium.

The Hawkeyes are currently the only Big Ten squad ranked ahead of Penn State in the AP Top 25 Poll. They boast a 3-0 record which includes wins over then-No. 17 Indiana and then-No. 9 Iowa State. This Saturday, Iowa will play Colorado State at 3:30 p.m. at Kinnick Stadium.
