Penn State Opens As Slight Betting Underdog Against Iowa

No. 4 Penn State football (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) opened as a 2.5-point underdog for its upcoming matchup against No. 3 Iowa (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten), according to Oddsshark.

While the spread was set at 2.5 when books opened, Oddsshark said it’s now moved to favor the Hawkeyes by three points. You can still grab Iowa as 2.5-point favorites on sportsbooks like BetOnline and SportsBetting. Circa Sports says the game is a toss-up and has an even spread.

The over/under is set at 42.5 points, which is by far the lowest points total the Nittany Lions have seen all year. The Wisconsin game sported the second-lowest total, which was a full touchdown higher. Penn State and Iowa have both only gone over once this year.

Penn State and Iowa are both 4-1 against the spread so far this year. The Nittany Lions couldn’t cover the 30.5-point spread against Villanova, while Iowa couldn’t beat Colorado State by the 23.5-point mark.

Penn State is 17-13 against Iowa dating back to 1930. The Hawkeyes snapped a six-game losing streak to the Nittany Lions during the 2020 season.

Saturday’s game at Kinnick Stadium is set to kick off at 4 p.m. on FOX. The “Big Noon Kickoff” crew will also be in Iowa City ahead of the top-four showdown. Onward State is also set to travel to provide coverage from the midwest.
