Penn State’s Arboretum To Host Annual Pumpkin Giveaway

Halloween festivities are officially underway at the Arboretum, folks. The Arboretum’s annual pumpkin giveaway will stretch from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, ahead of its annual jack-o’-lantern contest.

Those interested in entering the contest will be able to pick up their pumpkins at the Overlook Pavilion in the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens. The Arboretum estimates that there will be more than 1,000 pumpkins up for grabs. Still, contest participants are welcome to use pumpkins of their own from home.

The jack-o’-lantern contest will run from Friday, October 15, to Saturday, October 16. Participants will be able to submit their pumpkins into one of seven different categories, including the best Penn State theme and best pop culture theme. The three winners of each category will receive ribbons and be displayed in the Arboretum.

For more information about the giveaway and contest, visit the Arboretum’s website.
