[Photo Story] Master Goblin Games Opens In State College

Whether you’re into D&D, Magic: The Gathering, or themed fantasy board games — or maybe just want some pretty dice — Master Goblin Games has it all, folks.

The board game retailer recently opened a location in State College at 234 E. College Ave., right underneath Urban Outfitters. One other location exists in San Francisco, and more are in the works.

Owner Ryan Dickinson, who used to live in State College and work at Penn State, says he thinks a game store could perform well here due to the borough’s unique demographic of students.

The State College location is run by manager Jeremiah Baughman, who has a long history of playing board games and was the vice president of his college’s board game club. For Baughman, Master Goblin Games is a hub where people with shared interests can meet and play.

“I want this to be a place to build community, where people can come in and play games — either games they got from us or games that they’re bringing in themselves,” Baughman said.

Master Goblin Games offers plenty of places to put out a game and connect with others.

The shop is also the only retailer that carries specialty Dice Envy dice in-store.

Master Goblin Games is located on McAllister Street below Urban Outfitters and next to Cafe Wow.

Every first Friday of the month, Master Goblin Games hosts an open gaming night. If you want to learn more, meet some friends, involve your club, or stay up to date with the store’s events, you’re welcome to join Master Goblin Game’s Discord serve by scanning the QR code below.
