Penn State Opens As 17.5-Point Underdog Against Ohio State

No. 20 Penn State football opened as a 17.5-point underdog for its upcoming matchup at No. 5 Ohio State, according to OddsShark. The Nittany Lions will face the Buckeyes next weekend in Columbus, an environment that they have traditionally struggled in.

The over/under is set at 59.5, which is the highest total for Penn State this season and just one point above its matchup with Ball State (58.5). The Nittany Lions have hit the over twice this year against Villanova and Iowa.

Penn State and Ohio State have had similar results against the spread this year, with Penn State holding a record of 4-3 ATS and Ohio State holding a record of 4-2-1 ATS. The Nittany Lions failed to cover the spread against Villanova (-29.5) earlier in the season and in their last two games against Iowa (+2.5) and Illinois (-24.5).

Coming off two consecutive losses, the struggling Nittany Lions will hope to upset the favored Buckeyes who’ve lost only to Oregon a few weeks ago. Saturday’s game at Ohio Stadium will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
