Penn State Football Opens As Slight Betting Favorite Against Michigan State

Las Vegas thinks Saturday’s battle for the Land-Grant Trophy will be a tight contest in East Lansing.

Penn State football opened as a one-point favorite for its upcoming matchup with Michigan State, according to Oddshark. The Nittany Lions enter this weekend’s game with a 28-0 win over Rutgers in tow, while the Spartans are coming off of an ugly 56-7 defeat to Ohio State.

Oddshark’s predicted score for Saturday’s game is currently 31.7-28, while the over/under is set at 51.5 points.

The Nittany Lions are currently 7-4 against the spread so far this season, which matches their actual record of 7-4. Mel Tucker’s squad is 7-3-1 against the spread, while it’s 9-2 overall this year. The Spartans’ two losses include last week’s blowout defeat against the Buckeyes and a 40-29 loss to Purdue in West Lafayette.

Michigan State dropped five spots to No. 12 in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll, while its spot in the College Football Playoff rankings won’t be revealed until Tuesday night. As of now, the Spartans are sitting at No. 7, but will almost certainly drop a few spots.

Penn State still isn’t ranked in either of those polls, but received 26 votes in Sunday’s AP Top 25. The Nittany Lions haven’t been ranked in the College Football Playoff’s top 25 since that ranking began in early November.

Saturday’s highly-anticipated season finale will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and be broadcast on ABC.
