Penn State’s December 4 Hiring Fair Comes Amid Staffing Shortages

Penn State Auxiliary and Business Services will host a hiring event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, inside the Bryce Jordan Center’s Founders Room.

The hiring fair comes as Penn State faces “a great need” for employees, including full-time and part-time staff. Positions available through the event include:

  • Food service workers
  • Public space attendants
  • Housekeepers
  • BJC event staff
  • Customer service representatives
  • Financial assistants
  • After-hours security coordinators

“The goal is to hire as many people as possible,” said Eric Cox, a Human Resources consultant for Penn State and primary contact point for the hiring event. “We plan to interview and make contingent offers on the spot.”

The event comes as widespread staffing shortages across the university have forced on-campus locations to make temporary closures or permanent changes to their schedules, as Redifer Commons did in October.

An exhaustive list of the event’s available positions, along with further information, can be found here. All Penn State job openings, including those not offered at the event, can be found on the university’s Human Resources webpage.

No previously prepared application is necessary for potential candidates. Hopeful applicants need to only expect an interview and may receive assistance with the process upon request. Opportunities are open to both students and people unaffiliated with the school.

“If you know anyone interested in joining Penn State, now is the time,” Cox said.
