Power Ranking The Nittany Lion’s 2021 Football Season Outfits

Death, taxes, and killer Nittany Lion ‘fits.

If you’ve been keeping up with our site, you know that we love when the Lion shows up in a full outfit. In fact, we enjoy his stylings so much that we even gave him some suggestions of our own.

Although he didn’t use any of our ideas, we were still pretty impressed by his clothing choices this season. From iconic movie recreations to vintage getups, the Symbol of Our Best went all out this year.

Here you have it, folks. Onward State’s official rankings of the Lion’s 2021 season ‘fits.

1. Ferris Bueller

This Ferris Bueller recreation takes the cake. The Symbol of Our Best did not disappoint when he stepped out in this iconic ‘fit. Not to mention, he blew the crowd away with a rendition of the Beatles’ cover of “Twist And Shout.” There’s no doubt in my mind that the Lion found his own Sloane Peterson somewhere in the crowd that day.

2. Vintage Sweatsuit

This sweatsuit is a personal favorite of mine, especially when Penn State’s wearing throwback uniforms. The Lion just looks so dang comfy! Although the top is a tad pretentious, I’ll let it slide. If anyone deserves to gloat, it’s the Nittany Lion. After all, he is the Symbol of Our Best. Once you can do one-armed pushups, you can wear anything you want.

3. Bob Ross

First off, this painting belongs in a museum. Who knew the Lion was such a talented artist? Second, my guy looks mighty fine in a button-down. Also, can he drop the hair care routine? Those are some bouncy curls.

4. Form-Fitting Fatigues

Ah, a Nittany Lion classic. Would it even be the Military Appreciation Game if the Lion didn’t seduce the crowd in his fatigues? I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: The Nittany Lion looks hot in this ‘fit. Although it’s an outfit repeat, it still does the job. Go off, king.

5. Homemade Shades

I just don’t know about this one. Something about the Lion wearing shades but no clothes makes him look super naked. To be honest, this outfit feels pretty lazy. Who made those bootleg Pit Vipers? Kindergarteners? They’re tragic. This guy looks like he missed his alarm and forgot it was gameday. Do better, bro.

Freddie Mercury (???)

You may notice that we don’t have a photo of the Lion dressed as Queen’s Freddie Mercury. Although most of our staff vividly remembers the Symbol of Our Best stepping out in light wash jeans and a white tank top at the Auburn game, we can’t seem to find evidence anywhere. Quite honestly, I’m starting to think I made up this fantasy in my head. Or I’m a victim of the Mandela effect. If you have proof that the Lion dressed up as Freddie Mercury, please be a hero and email it to me ASAP. Lion, if you’re reading this, please confirm or deny it before I combust.

After a season full of electric outfits, the Nittany Lion confirms what we already know: he truly looks good in anything. Yeah, some looks are better than others, but the Symbol of Our Best definitely has an eye for style. I’ll be the first to admit that the Lion all dressed up has me feeling some type of way. Call me?
