Penn State Football’s Tyler Rudolph Transfers To UMass
Former Penn State defensive back Tyler Rudolph is transferring to the University of Massachusetts, he announced via Twitter Friday morning.
Rudolph’s commitment comes after a little over two weeks in the NCAA transfer portal.
A member of Penn State’s Class of 2019, Rudolph was recruited as a four-star safety out of Waterbury, Connecticut. Rudolph was the eighth-ranked player in Penn State’s class and the No. 3-ranked player coming out of Connecticut.
Over his three seasons with the Nittany Lions, Rudolph was only able to appear in twelve games. He recorded a career-high five tackles against Ball State this season.
Rudolph is joining a UMass team that is coming off an abysmal 1-11 season. His commitment is certainly one of consequence, as the Minutemen’s defense was especially troublesome, giving up an average of over 43 points a game last season.
Having used a redshirt year at Penn State, Rudolph will have up to three years of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career.
