Micah Parsons Named To 2022 NFL Pro Bowl

Micah Parsons’ historic rookie season continued Wednesday night when he received a nod on the 2022 Pro Bowl roster.

The linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys was honored alongside four fellow teammates: cornerback Trevon Diggs, offensive tackle Tyron Smith, guard Zack Martin, and punter Bryan Anger.

Parsons has compiled 12 sacks (the league’s seventh-most), 76 tackles, 27 quarterback hits, and three forced fumbles so far this season. Due to his team’s defensive injury woes, Parsons has split time at linebacker and defensive end.

The current odds-on favorite for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year has also recently entered conversations as a potential candidate for NFL Defensive Player of the Year. OddsShark currently gives Parsons the second-best odds for earning that nod, narrowly trailing Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. If he were to accomplish that feat, Parsons would be the first rookie since Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor to do so.

Parsons is in elite company at the Pro Bowl. He is set to join the Indianapolis Colts’ Darius Leonard, the Las Vegas Raiders’ Denzel Perryman, and the Seattle Seahawks’ Bobby Wagner as the Pro Bowl’s inside linebacker representation.

Fellow Nittany Lions Jason Cabinda and Chris Godwin were named Pro Bowl alternates, too. Cabinda has contributed at fullback for his Detroit Lions this year and just scored his first NFL touchdown. Godwin, meanwhile, compiled 1,103 receiving yards and five touchdowns with Tampa Bay before suffering a season-ending injury.

The 2022 Pro Bowl is scheduled for Sunday, February 6, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. National television coverage will be supplied by ESPN and ABC.
