Penn State Thespians To Host Auditions For ‘9 To 5: The Musical’

The Penn State Thespian Society will hold auditions for “9 To 5: The Musical” from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, through Thursday, January 13, in 273 Willard.

The musical is based on the hit film from 1980 and includes music and lyrics written by Dolly Parton. “9 to 5: The Musical” tells the story of three female coworkers banding together against their sexist, bigoted boss and rebranding the company with their own personal flair once they “give their boss the boot.”

The Penn State Thespian Society describes the musical as “outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic” and labeled it a story of friendship and revenge.

Students planning to audition are expected to prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song of their choice to perform without accompaniment — and nothing from the show! They’ll also be required to prepare a 30 to 60-second monologue for their audition day and time. Headshots and resumes are not needed for consideration.

More information for sign-ups is available on the Penn State Thespian Society’s Facebook page.
