Penn State Appoints New Performance Enhancement Directors

Penn State Athletics appointed a pair of new assistant athletic directors for performance enhancement on Tuesday.

Rhian Davis will oversee performance enhancement regimens for Penn State’s Olympic sports, while Chuck Losey will fill the same role with the Nittany Lions football team. Together, they replace Dwight Galt, who retired earlier this month after spending nearly a decade in Happy Valley.

“I am thrilled to be Penn State’s first director of performance enhancement for Olympic sports and be a part of the sports performance team,” Davis said in a statement.

Both Davis and Losey have worked within Penn State’s athletic department for a long while. Davis previously worked closely with the Nittany Lions’ women’s soccer, softball, swimming programs, and more. Losey, on the other hand, joined Penn State’s staff in 2014 and previously worked alongside James Franklin and Galt at Vanderbilt.

Both Davis and Losey credited their mentor, Galt, for getting them ready to take the next step in their careers.

“For the past 11 years, I’ve had a clear vision of what I wanted the next step to be in my coaching career,” said Losey. “Working alongside James Franklin and Dwight Galt has afforded me the opportunity to help cultivate my craft in order to be more than prepared to take on this new role.”

At Penn State, the pair will help form strength and conditioning and performance enhancement routines for the Nittany Lions’ teams.
