Penn State-Iowa Earns Record Viewership For Big Ten Network Wrestling
Penn State wrestling’s huge road win over No. 2 Iowa was the most-watched wrestling broadcast in the history of the Big Ten Network, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The No. 1-ranked Nittany Lions’ 19-13 victory over the Hawkeyes averaged 363,000 viewers over the course of the broadcast. The broadcast broke the record of a previous Penn State vs. Iowa wrestling matchup in 2020, which averaged 342,955 viewers.
This record shows a continued upward trend in wrestling viewership on the Big Ten Network. This trend increased by 23% last season with an average audience of 150,000. With both Penn State and Iowa surging, it’s not too crazy to think this record could break again soon.
Penn State wrestling will return to Happy Valley this week for its annual dual in the Bryce Jordan Center against No. 8 Ohio State. The Nittany Lions will face the Buckeyes at 7 p.m. on Friday on the Big Ten Network.
