Power Ranking New Merchandise At THON 2022

After a two-year hiatus, THON is finally back in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Along with the onset of the annual spectacle, new merchandise is now available on THON’s website and throughout the concourses of the BJC.

For most of the new gear, the theme “Spark Endless Light” is heavily featured. From hoodies to classical t-shirts, let’s take a look at some of our favorite merchandise THON has to offer this time around.

No. 10 — 2022 THON Alumni Short Sleeve

Although the “Spark Endless Light” white t-shirt is slotted at No. 10 in our power rankings, its sleek two-colored design paired with its multipurpose potential can’t be understated.

The grey and white combination not only makes the shirt perfect for Saturday evening’s White Out Pep Rally, but it also will make you feel right at home for any Penn State White Out or “Wear White” athletic event held across campus.

Additionally, by purchasing the shirt, proceeds benefit both THON and the Penn State Alumni Association. It’s a win-win.

No. 9 — 2022 Saltwater Long Sleeve T-Shirt

At first glance, the first long sleeve piece of apparel in our rankings looks pretty simplistic. But, the minimalistic design on the shirt’s front makes up for the huge logo placement on the back.

The logo’s all-white embodiment pops against the shirt’s “saltwater” color scheme, making it a can’t-miss product across THON’s new line of clothing.

No. 8 — I THON… T-Shirt

Similar to the first t-shirt, this design is even more simplistic. However, so many people who participate in the annual fight against pediatric cancer are doing so with a specific person or cause in mind. Why not write it yourself?

This shirt’s concept is neat and creative, and its reasonable $10 price point makes the deal even sweeter.

No. 7 — 2022 THON Alpine Green Crewneck

Once again, THON nailed it with a sleek design and unique color combination. The alpine green isn’t typically a color donned by Penn State faithful, but the THON logo certainly looks like it’s right where it belongs on the background.

According to the THON shop, the crewneck comes in at a pricey $38, but once again, the “Spark Endless Light” logo on the back makes it a unique piece of memorabilia for the first in-person event in two years.

No. 6 — Gold Ribbon Flannel Pants

For the first non-top among our comprehensive merchandise rankings, the Gold Ribbon Flannel Pants cracked our top-10 nearly halfway down the list.

If you plan on entering the BJC during the “graveyard hours” of THON, these comfy bottoms could be perfect for rolling out of bed and exploring the late-night spectacle.

No. 5 — 2022 THON Amethyst Short Sleeve T-Shirt

At No. 5, we have another addition to the THON t-shirt line with a new white and purple tie-dye color described as “amethyst.”

While we’re not quite sure how “amethyst” is defined, the color sure is slick. The large THON 2022 logo on the front is a quality touch to the garment, and once again, the Spark Endless Light logo on the back keeps the theme alive and consistent across the newly introduced clothing line.

No. 4 — Retro ‘For The Kids’ Ringer Tee

For the 50th anniversary of THON, this classic throwback look will surely remind alumni who once danced in the White Building and HUB way back when.

From the collared neck and sleeves to the 80s-themed front headlining, you can’t go wrong with the Champion-branded For The Kids t-shirt that throws it back to generations of past Penn Staters.

No. 3 — Shuttershade Vest

In our third spot, we have the THON-branded Columbia Shuttershade Vest, which is a perfect way to ring in the recent stretch of spring weather sweeping State College.

Its fleece material will keep you comfortable and warm all at once, all while helping you represent THON in style. At $45, the vest is on the more expensive side of THON merchandise, but compared to other Columbia gear, it appears as though the website offers customers a true bang for their buck.

No. 2 — FTK Polaroid T-Shirt

Within the thick of the final two spots, we have the new FTK Polaroid T-Shirt. Although the front isn’t too flashy, the back of the design makes the shirt an awesome addition to the THON product line.

On the back, the shirt combines “film pictures” of campus landmarks and THON-related symbols to encapsulate the weekend altogether.

From the exterior of the BJC, the Lion Shrine, and the famed “We Are” statue, the short sleeve shirt perfectly displays how Penn State and THON unite as one to create the world’s largest student-run philanthropy.

No. 1 — THON Weekend Long Sleeve

Finally, we’ve arrived at the top. The best new addition to the THON merchandise line is the THON Weekend long sleeve.

The yellow ribbon on the front shows what THON is all about, and the blue and pink bubbles make the design stand out to another level.

For the first true THON weekend since February 2020, it’s only right to represent THON in the way it should be — with a packed Bryce Jordan Center crowd for 46 straight hours.
