[Photo Story] Penn State Soaks In First Taste Of Spring
Now that spring break has come and gone, campus is finally starting to give students a feel for some warmer weather. This week, the sun shined brightly upon Happy Valley as temperatures jumped up into the high 60s, finally providing a true taste of spring.
Naturally, campus was bustling with activity, and our visual staff was there to capture it.
Early in the day, the sidewalks were packed as students already started to appreciate the weather.
As temperatures climbed and afternoon classes ended, students filled the HUB Lawn to study, work, and hang out with friends.
Frisbee amateurs and pros alike took advantage of the nice day to squeeze a good toss in.
From up above, students looked like ants while dotting the lawn.
A little farther west, Old Main Lawn was filled with students enjoying the temperatures in the high 60s, too.
Dogs, frisbee players, and even dogs playing frisbee filled the yard. At one point, we counted eight different frisbees being thrown at once on Old Main Lawn. Chaos!
Around campus, some flowers started to perk up a bit as the weather finally started to turn. Perhaps this is signaling that more of these spring days should hopefully be just around the corner.
Downtown, people took advantage of the weather to enjoy outdoor seating at some of their favorite restaurants and bars along College Ave. Cafe 210 West was expectedly packed.
As the sun began to set over campus, students soaked in the final hours of light to enjoy what had been one of the best days in a long while.
As if it were a storybook ending to a fairytale, the day ended with an epic sunset, cascading the sky with hues of orange and purple to end the amazing day in Happy Valley. Here’s to more days like today.
