‘In The Heights’ To Play At The State Theatre April 1

“Lights up on Washington Heights!”

This week, the State Theatre will screen a showing of the 2021 film of the Broadway musical “In The Heights.” The screening, set for 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1, offers general admission tickets for $8.

“In The Heights” is directed by Jon M. Chu with music created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who helped write and develop beloved projects like “Hamilton” and Disney’s “Encanto”. The story follows bodega owner Usnavi, played by Anthony Ramos, as he sings about a better life outside of Washington Heights.

“In The Heights” first hit Broadway in 2008. It was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and won Best Musical, Best Orginal Score, and Best Choreography. The show also won a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.

The State Theatre will require guests to be fully vaccinated or show a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the sceening. A photo ID is required, too, as staff will be checking to ensure tests and vaccine cards match IDs.
