Former ‘SNL’ Director Don Roy King To Speak At Spring 2022 Bellisario Commencement

Former “Saturday Night Live” director and legendary television producer Don Roy King is set to speak at the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications’ commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7.

King graduated from Penn State in 1969 and has since been honored as a distinguished alumnus and an Alumni Fellow, the highest honor presented by the Penn State Alumni Association. May 7’s commencement will serve as King’s first visit to Happy Valley since hosting a one-man show in 2017.

The Pittsburgh native is best known for directing SNL from 2006 to 2021. King has directed more hours of live television than anyone else and earned 11 Primetime Emmy Awards across his career. In addition to SNL, his portfolio includes credits on “Good Morning America,” “The Mike Douglas Show,” “Survivor,” and more.

Bellisario’s commencement ceremony is set to kick off at 1 p.m. on May 7 in the Bryce Jordan Center. Head online to view a full schedule of events across commencement weekend.
