State College’s Pride Celebration Returns June 11

State College will celebrate the LGBTQA+ community with its second annual in-person Pride celebration, featuring a “Pride Ride” car caravan and parade, on Saturday, June 11.

Folks who wish to participate in the parade may do so for free, while businesses and organizations must register ahead of time. After the parade, community members can check out an after-party at the Sidney Friedman Parklet on Fraser Street that will feature live music, a magician, drag competitions, and themed booths.

Aside from the parade and after-party, the Centre LGBTQA Support Network (CLSN) and the Borough of State College have several scheduled Pride-related events set to take place during the first few days of June. A screening of Disney’s “Luca”, a State College Spikes Pride-themed game, and a Pride Fun Day at Tussey, featuring food trucks, bumper cars, and performances by Anchor&Arrow, and the Evergreens, are just some of the events set to occur.

Local businesses are also encouraged to participate in Pride by participating in a store-front decorating contest and supporting Rainbow Card, which will provide discounts to participating businesses.

The proceeds from this year’s Pride events will benefit CLSN’s efforts to support the Centre region’s LGBTQA+ community.
