[Photo Story] Penn State Athletics In Black & White

As the end of the school year approaches, most Penn State sports are beginning to wrap up their seasons and transition to summer workouts.

This year was certainly one to remember. From the Beaver Stadium White Out to Hockey Valley to everything in between, our visual staff was there to capture it all. To reflect on an action-packed year, we captured some of our favorite shots through a timeless black-and-white lens.

The year began with fall sports taking the stage. Men’s soccer cruised its way to both the Big Ten’s regular-season and tournament titles, triumphantly taking down Indiana after falling just short in 2021.

Beaver Stadium welcomed back Penn State fans for the first time since the 2019 season, and with it came many highs, lows, and great game faces.

The White Out and Stripe Out made a triumphant return as well. Not too shabby!

Later on, Pegula Ice Arena and the Bryce Jordan Center also welcomed back fans. The Lady Lions, men’s basketball, and men’s and women’s hockey teams all played with a renewed passion and fire.

As the weather got colder, Penn State Wrestling got red-hot. In addition to grabbing their 10th NCAA team championship, the Nittany Lions also crowned five individual national champions in Detroit last month.

Just like that, winter *mostly* blew by, and spring sports began their seasons. While we eagerly await the arrival of consistently warm weather, we’ll gladly capture more shots of the Nittany Lions before we head home for the summer.
