[Photo Story] Penn State Celebrates Earth Day Across Campus

April 22 is Earth Day, and to celebrate our beautiful planet on this amazing campus, Penn State student organizations planned a series of events to celebrate the planet on a refreshingly warm and sunny Earth Day.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from the day’s events:

Students gathered on the HUB Lawn to enjoy the sunny day. Some chose to participate in some fun Earth Day activities, including plant sales and information booths.

The Penn State EcoAction group hosted EarthFest, an event that featured activities like arts and crafts, Earth Day trivia, and information stations about local environmental groups and locations.

Students were able to buy some beautiful fresh flowers to support the organization, too.

Across campus at the Creamery, the Penn State EcoReps hosted “Critters by the Creamery” — an event that gave students and community members a close-up look at some wildlife.

One of the featured animals was a red-tailed hawk, which amazed many of the younger visitors.

This hawk, along with his owl friend, captured the attention of many, including me!

The event also had some bats and snakes, in tanks, of course. Some visitors were more excited than others.

Many students took advantage of the warm day to hang out by the animals and enjoy a delicious cone from the Creamery.

It was another beautiful spring day here at Penn State, and what fittingly beautiful weather to celebrate our planet. Happy Earth Day, Penn State!
