Penn State Homecoming Unveils 2022 Logo
Returning to tradition three years later, Penn State Homecoming unveiled its upcoming logo at halftime of the Nittany Lions’ Blue-White spring football game on Saturday. The design reflects this year’s theme, “One Community, Forever A Home”.
Graphic design student Emma Swayze produced this year’s logo. Through it, she sought to portray Homecoming’s overarching theme: home. As such, it’s no coincidence that a blue and white scarf wraps tightly around “home”.
“I wanted to create a visual that captures the comfort of being home,” Swayze said in a release. “After juggling ideas, I decided to run with a striped scarf, the scarf that the Nittany Lion wears, to tie in the coziness of being home and Penn State’s culture.”
Swayze’s logo beat out proposals from six other students in instructor Taylor Shipton’s graphic design class. Through an annual project, students from the course are required to put together prospective logos for each Homecoming campaign.
Homecoming 2022 will begin on Sunday, October 16, and culminate with the Nittany Lions’ clash against Minnesota at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, October 22. Although the game doesn’t have an official kickoff time yet, Homecoming games traditionally begin in the afternoon, either at noon or 3:30 p.m.
Additionally, the annual Homecoming Parade is set for Friday, October 21. Stay tuned for more information on other yearly festivities, including the Allen Street Jam street carnival or For The Glory talent show.
