Penn State Football’s Cole Brevard Transfers To Purdue

Update, May 16: Brevard is officially heading to West Lafayette, as the defensive tackle has committed to Purdue, he announced via Twitter Monday morning.

Original Post: Penn State defensive tackle Cole Brevard has reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal, per The Athletic’s Audrey Snyder.

Ranked the No. 19 Class of 2020 defensive tackle in the country by 247Sports, Brevard was a highly sought-after recruit and chose Penn State over Wisconsin, Michigan, Clemson, and more. The redshirt sophomore came into Penn State as a four-star prospect in 2020 and was the fifth-highest ranked player in the Nittany Lions’ class.

Since arriving in Happy Valley, the Indiana native has only made one game appearance as a Nittany Lion, which came during Penn State’s shutout victory over Rutgers this past November.

James Franklin has built up some serious depth at defensive tackle over the last few years. Redshirt junior Dvon Ellies and redshirt sophomore Coziah Izzard will return and both gained experience during the 2021 season, and redshirt junior Hakeem Beamon will make his way back into the lineup after missing last season with an injury. Senior PJ Mustipher is also expected to return and serve as an anchor for Penn State’s defensive line after suffering a season-ending injury against Iowa last October.
