Former Penn State Hoops Guard Rasir Bolton Declares For 2022 NBA Draft

Former Penn State men’s basketball guard announced on Wednesday that he’s heading to the 2022 NBA Draft.

Bolton transferred to Iowa State in 2019 and later wound up at Gonzaga during the 2021-22 season. He’s now the fifth and final Gonzaga starter to declare for the NBA’s upcoming draft.

“Playing in the NBA has been a dream of mine since I first picked up the ball,” Bolton wrote in a statement. “After talking it over with my family, I’ve decided to declare for the 2022 NBA Draft.”

In his lone season at Penn State, Bolton averaged 11.6 points, two rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. His best year arguably came at Iowa State in the 2020-21 season, when he contributed 15.5 points per game for the Cyclones.

Bolton’s senior season with Gonzaga earned him All-West Coast Conference honorable mention honors. This year, he started in all 32 games, tallied a total of 873 minutes played, and led the team with 64 converted three-pointers (46%). Gonzaga, the Western Region’s No. 1 seed, lost to No. 4 Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.

Bolton is now the third former Nittany Lion to declare for the NBA Draft, joining Izaiah Brockington and Jamari Wheeler.
