Oregon’s Chanaya Pinto Announces Transfer To Lady Lions

Former Oregon forward Chanaya Pinto announced Wednesday afternoon that she’s heading to Happy Valley to play for Penn State women’s basketball.

Pinto played her first two collegiate seasons at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida, before transferring to Oregon for her junior season. The Mozambique native announced her intent to transfer on April 8 before being scooped up by Carolyn Kieger just under three weeks later.

During her lone season with the Ducks, Pinto appeared in 30 games and averaged 11.4 minutes, 2.9 points, and 2.4 rebounds per game. Additionally, she recorded 18 steals during the 2021-22 season.

Before her time in Eugene, Pinto was named a two-time Junior College All-American while she played for Northwest Florida State College.

Pinto’s commitment comes just one day after Lady Lions star guard Shay Hagans announced her departure to Seton Hall. Guards Maddie Burke and Tova Sabel also declared their transfers to Villanova and UC Davis, respectively, last week.

Pinto will join graduate transfer Alexa Williamson on the Lady Lions’ roster, who revealed her commitment to Penn State on April 20.
