Jaquan Brisker To Wear No. 9 With Bears

Jaquan Brisker will wear No. 9 with the Chicago Bears to start his NFL career, the team announced Wednesday.

The former Penn State safety wore No. 7 in his debut season with the Nittany Lions in 2019 before switching to No. 1 for his final two years with the team.

The Bears took Brisker in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft with the No. 48 overall pick. He was the third Nittany Lion to come off the board behind wideout Jahan Dotson, who the Commanders took at No. 16 overall, and defensive end Arnold Ebiketie, who went to the Falcons with the No. 38 pick.

Brisker was a two-year starter for Penn State and played a key role for the Cotton Bowl-winning 2019 team. He didn’t miss a game in his Nittany Lion career until he opted out of last season’s Outback Bowl against Arkansas to focus on the NFL draft.

During his time with the Nittany Lions, Brisker recorded 151 total tackles, 10 for a loss, 14 passes defended, and five interceptions.

You’ll presumably get your first look at Brisker in his No. 9 Bears uniform when the squad takes the field during the NFL’s preseason sometime in August.
